The Hunley Waters "green scheme" incorporates features that serve to protect the natural environment while preserving what is already there. DesignWorks has planted a native-based landscape of flora and fauna that are low-maintenance and require minimal watering.
The neighborhood pond, enhanced with these native plants, was designed by engineering firm, B.P. Barber, with environmentally-sound stormwater drainage and retention capabilities. While the plants serve as a biofilter to reduce and slow down pollutants from going back into Noisette Creek, the pond itself acts as a purifying basin for rainwater. The overall scheme ultimately reduces potentially harmful run-off into the Noisette Creek watershed.
